State Representative Tram Nguyen Endorses Ed Markey for United States Senate
Wednesday, November 20, 2019
BOSTON – State Representative Tram Nguyen has endorsed Ed Markey in his bid for re-election to the United States Senate. Nguyen represents the 18th Essex District in the House of Representatives, which includes parts of Andover, North Andover, Boxford, and Tewksbury.
“I am honored to have Representative Tram’s support for my re-election,” said Senator Markey. “Her life’s work shows a deep commitment to social justice, from her work as a legal services attorney fighting for seniors, veterans, and families struggling with domestic violence, to her service as a legislator fighting for public safety and equal opportunity for all. Tram works hard every day for social and economic justice, and I’m very proud to have earned her endorsement.”
“Ed Markey was right here in Merrimack Valley after we suffered devastating gas explosions,” said Nguyen. “He is working harder than anyone to end our dependence on dangerous fossil fuels and move us to safer, alternative energy. His work to fight opioid misuse, increase gun safety, and his support of women’s healthcare are what our country needs. I’m proud to work to keep Ed Markey in the United States Senate.”
Senator Markey has served in the United States Senate for the last six years and is widely regarded as the leading member of Congress on environmental issues. He has also led legislation to protect consumers and address the opioid epidemic, internet privacy concerns, and net neutrality.
